The Comedians with Disabilities Act is a fabulous collection of comedians who have disabilities, both seen and unseen, and bring forth the humor they find in their experiences. The show is the brainchild of comedian Michael O’Connell, who started the group in 2010, and was later joined by Steve Danner and Nina G, not long after. In 2016, O’Connell sadly passed away – but the show he created lives on, spotlighting a variety of Disabled and outrageously funny comedians.
Our headliner Loren Kraut is a writer and comedian in SF. She has performed in SF Sketchfest, SheDot Comedy Festival, Lysistrata Comedy Festival, Mutiny Radio Festival and the World Series of Comedy. She created “Giraffe Corner”, a weekly video series where stuffed giraffes have therapy. And she is LOL…Little Old Lesbian on Instagram reels with guidelines for living your best neurotic life. She lives with her cat and an unprecedented number of giraffes.
Also featuring Nina G, the Bay Area’s only female stuttering comedian, professional speaker, comedy historical consultant and author of Stutterer Interrupted: The Comedian Who Almost Didn’t Happen, Bay Area Stand-Up Comedy: A Humorous History. Mean Dave is a regular at Cobb’s Comedy Club, Punch Line, Laughs Unlimited and has shared the stage with Judy Tenuta, Big Jay Oakerson, Eddie Pepitone, Dan Soder, Jay Mohr, Allan Havey, Neil Hamburger, Dean Delray, Tom Rhodes and most importantly, Barry Sobel. While having performed at SF Sketchfest and other comedy festivals of note, most of Dave’s life has been littered with utter disappointment and flat-out betrayal that only a sarcastic, cynical sense of humor can remedy. Many fans agree with this statement, “Mean Dave has made us laugh, cry, and cringe! He is honest and cynical, and such a sweet person.”
Candy Shaw is a Bay Area-based comedian and sometimes actor. She was featured on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and placed 3rd in California’s Funniest Female Contest. In Boiling Frog Entertainment’s The Jesus Roast, she made her SF Sketchfest debut as Kristi Noem. She’s opened for such greats as Larry “Bubbles” Brown, Mark Curry, Will Durst, Bobcat Goldthwait, Marga Gomez, Ms. Pat, Rob Schneider, and Tom Segura.
