The Weekend Series at Yerba Buena Gardens returns with soul and R&B inspired cuts from bandleader Marcus Cohen. Marcus Cohen’s The Congress brings a sound steeped in funk, hip-hop, gospel, and jazz.

The Congress features Cohen (trumpet, composer) Anthony Blea (violin), Rafa Postel (trumpet), Tony Peebles (sax), Daniel Riera (woodwind, synth), Marcus McCauley (piano), Khalil Doak-Anthony (guitar), Misha Khalikulov (cello), Mark Allen-Piccolo (bass), Raúl Perales (bass), John “Omayga” Adams III (drums) and Jayme Arredondo (drums). Vocalists include Valerie Troutt, Crystal Monee Hall, and Tiffany Austin, with hip-hop lyricist MicBlake rounding out The Congress’ amazing membership.

The Yerba Buena Gardens Festival (YBGF) features over 90 free outdoor events from May to October on three stages including music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, family festivals and children’s programs with artists from all over the world Africa, Bali, Italy, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, the Philippines, Sweden, China and the Bay Area.

YBGF Venues: Concerts and events take place at either Yerba Buena Gardens (located in between the Metreon and YBCA near Mission and 3rd) or across the street at Jessie Square on Mission right in front of the Contemporary Jewish Museum.
