Connecting Cuts: A Papercut Exhibit

Thursday, November 7, 2024 - 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm | Cost: FREE
Olive Hyde Gallery | 123 Washington Blvd. Fremont, CA

Event Details

The City of Fremont’s historic Olive Hyde Art Gallery proudly presents Connecting Cuts – a papercut exhibition featuring a diverse group of local, national, and international artists. The works, presented by Guest Curator Bianca Levan and Olive Hyde Art Gallery Curator Leah Andrews, offer a glimpse into traditional, cross-cultural, and modern papercut styles and techniques and are accompanied by descriptions of their historical origins.

Presenting works from local as well as international artists, Connecting Cuts is a one-of-a-kind exhibition which has Levan and Andrews presenting traditional folks styles like Jianzhi, Papel Picado, Scherenschnitte and Wayang alongside more contemporary works, to link techniques and identify the stylistic similarities and departures.
