Submitted by the Event Organizer
If you love Golden Gate Park and are looking for a meaningful way to make a positive difference, come on out and volunteer with the San Francisco Parks Trust to create butterfly habitat.
We’ll be on Strawberry HIll (the highest point in Golden Gate Park, with lovely 360 degree views), taking out invasive plants and caring for local native plant species that are crucial nectar sources for swallowtails and other butterflies.
- No gardening or habitat restoration experience necessary, we’ll teach you everything you need to know and provide the tools. It’s a fun and inspiring way to spend time in the park.
- SF Parks Trust will provide water and morning snacks.
- During our lunch break (Bring your own sack lunch), you’ll hear about other interesting habitat restoration projects in the park.
- Wear closed toe shoes, and dress in layers as weather can change quickly.
We’ll meet at Stow Lake Boat House in Golden Gate Park, and then walk as a group over to Strawberry Hill. Please arrive before 10 AM, as we start at 10 AM sharp.

If you’re in a group of 4 people or less, no need to RSVP, just show up. Questions? or if you have a group larger than 4 people: please call Julia Brashares at 415-750-5110 or email julia@sfpt.org
