Event Details

This free class from the Rock Paper Scissor Collective will have you create a free-form collage in two hours that you can take home. BYO supplies and share media.

RPS volunteer Erika, a poet & jewelry designer, designed the class to put you in a kind of meditative state that pushes you to use your unconscious rather than have an intent for what you’re cutting up and pasting together. The jazz music playing should help. It’s free but there is a donation jar at the door if you feel like it.

What to bring: Magazines, newspapers, any printed materials you don’t mind having cut up and shared. The teacher will also be bringing in printed materials. If you can please bring also your own glue and scissors. There may be some on hand however supplies are limited.

4 – 5 pm: Bring materials, whether text or visuals with you to event. In this first hour, you’ll sift through the printed materials & gather pieces you find relevant or striking. It’s best to actually exchange materials instead of using our own.

5- 6 pm: Select from available paper sizes, cut up and assemble your collages. Once you’re finished you can feel free to share or just take it home.

Note: The teacher asks that students come to this without an end result in mind. This is a meditative exercise that can help us to understand our wishes and desires through the visual medium.
