Event Details

Inspired by San Francisco’s fabulous Muni system at rush hour, this experiment places strangers together in incredibly close proximity for a while to see what happens. Please note that this event does not take place on muni, but is inspired by it.

Will you avoid eye contact? Make eye contact? Does this scenario make you more aware and compassionate of how others feel, or do you end up focusing on self? Will you end up competing or cooperating – self vs. group comfort? Talk to each other? Laugh out of uncomfortableness? Fart and blame it on someone else? Form a singing group and break out into acapella?

Find out what awkward magic may (or may not) ensue. And if you can’t make it to this event, for instant awkward intimacy, try #sfmuni. Works 60 percent of the time, every time.
