Ctrl Alt Del: Tashlique 2022 at Crissy Field East Beach

Event Description: Mark the start of your new year with Reboot and the JCCSF. Reset your system with our modern spin on a 600-year-old Rosh Hashanah ritual called tashlich. This custom of ridding ourselves of all our bad vuggum (karma) from the previous year and getting a fresh start for the new one is traditionally enacted by tossing crumbs (we now use birdseed to be more eco-conscious) into the ocean. Join us on Monday, Sept. 26 by the shore at Crissy Field East Beach for a brief, engaging ritual. Bring a shofar, if you have one, to blow along with some of San Francisco’s finest players from the Jazz Mafia, the Irish Pipers Band, and The Church of John Coltrane. Find out more here. Tashlique is presented by Reboot with the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco with community partners Hebrew Free Loan, Honeymoon Israel, the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund, JIMENA, SF Hillel, The Kitchen, One Table and Value Culture. We will be joined by CA State Senator Scott Wiener, vice chair of the California Legislative Jewish Caucus.

We have moved the event to Crissy Field East Beach where there are beach mats on the sand and wheelchairs and beach walkers available. By entering the physical area of the Tashlique event or participating in Tashlique, you accept the inherent risks and liability. Participants are required to sign in at the event and get a wristband to prove they have signed the liability waiver. But, you accept liability by your physical presence in the area of Tashlique even if you do not sign the waiver.
