Akira (1988)

Set your psychokinesis meter to 11 and prepare for the 2nd coming of Akira. Neo-Tokyo is post WWIII and the city verges on toward nightmare fuel. Can cool-guy mecha-motorcycle riding Kaneda and his friendly foil Tetsuo escape political insurgence, ESPer green children, hand to hand violence and a secret military complex? The metrogrit is sharp and stark. The soundtrack is 2019 jukebox patina.

Come see why Akira is not only an archetype (detonating American interest in Manga), but also a force of creation and confusion. Featuring the original Japanese voices, the original manga content, drugs, and that damn motorcycle we all wanted. Directed by Katsuhiro Otomo.
