Event Details

The San Francisco Amateur Astronomers puts on monthly (approximately) public events with a public lecture on the stars followed by a public viewing through telescopes. Events start at sunset and are held at Lands End (Point Lobos) in the North-western corner of San Francisco in between the Presidio and Ocean Beach.

Directions to Point Lobos:

Located at the large parking area in the Lands End section of western San Francisco on El Camino Del Mar.

  • If you are driving west on Pt. Lobos, turn right on El Camino del Mar opposite the Seal Rock Inn. There is a dedicated right turn lane which leads to an uphill road.
  • Northbound on the Great Highway, follow the highway as it becomes Point Lobos Avenue and passes the Cliff House. After you pass a small road called Merrie Way, take the next left onto El Camino Del Mar and follow the road uphill.
  • You will pass Seal Rock Street on your right and will see a “Not a Through Street” sign and another sign for Fort Miley. Continue until the road ends in a parking lot.
