The Decentralized Dance Party is a public-space dance party, powered by 50 boomboxes and a mobile FM radio station.
They roam the streets in outrageous costumes, freeing the denizens of the city from the rigid structures that govern urban life. With accessible music, oversized props, and fun attitudes, they create a hyper-inclusive event that is designed to sweep up passers-by and show them the best night of their lives.
The next DDP event is April 16, 2016 with a special costume theme: A Night At The Museum. Come dressed as your favorite work of art or an art thief. Come dressed as a triceratops skeleton or a museum docent. Come dressed as a life-sized diorama of yourself. Go wild (or just wear your favorite party clothes).
Meet at Cupid’s Span on the Embarcadero.
While they will always be free to attend, DDPs are expensive to throw and donations are gratefully accepted.
