Join us Feburary 9th for the Oakland Storytellers debut showcase. Seven storytellers will explore the theme of “destruction” — what happens when our plans, hopes, dreams and perceptions of reality suddenly devolve into a terrible mushroom cloud of doom? What if we are the very agents of this destruction? What is created when we feel destroyed?

We’re a lovely melange of experienced, amateur and first-time storytellers performing 100% true stories. There will be audience games, prizes and surprises.

While we encourage childlike wonder, this event is not appropriate for kids. Expect adult language and themes.

Our venue, Chapter 510 & the Dept. of Make Believe, is located at 2301 Telegraph Ave. in Uptown Oakland. The Dept. of Make Believe is a reading and writing workshop for K-12 students in Oakland.

Oakland Storytellers is a group for grown ups who never grew out of story time. We meet every Weds at the Department of Make Believe at 7:30 pm to play silly improv games and workshop stories on a theme. Follow our events at Oakland Storytellers or on Instagram @oakland.storytellers.

The show is free, but if you feel so inspired, you can donate a few buckaroos to help keep our group going.

Doors open at 7:30 pm, and the show starts at 8:00. This event is BYOP (bring your own pillow).
