Dirty Old Women Reading: Literary Erotica Salon | Oakland

Older women: Wise enough to tell the truth about sex – what they want, what they’ve done, what makes them hot. Dirty Old Women, a monthly series at Octopus, celebrates erotic writing by self-identified older women of all orientations.

Open mic starts at 7:30 pm and is open to all; featured readings begin at 8 pm. Dirty Old Women takes place quarterly at Octopus Literary Salon, 2101 Webster at 21st St, Oakland.

Starting in 2018 this event is now quarterly instead of monthly. Check the calendar for updates.

On Tuesday, September 22, the featured readers are Xequina Berber and Dorothy Freed.

Xequina Berber is the author of the novel Santora: The Good Daughter, under the name Resurrección Cruz and is a former columnist for The New Mission News in San Francisco. She came out during early middlescence and now makes up for lost gay time through her creative endeavors: short stories, comic strips, and paintings celebrating lesbian themes. She also re-writes songs to honor dyke culture, which are then performed for the community with her drag king partner, Johnny Magnolia. Xequina lives in Oakland and works as a public law librarian.

Dorothy Freed is the pseudonym of an erotica writer who lives near San Francisco. Her stories have appeared in anthologies including The Mammoth Book of Quick & Dirty Erotica, Cheeky Spanking Stories, Ageless Erotica, and Sex Still Spoken Here. Her blog, Sixty-Nine and Still Sexual is on her website, Dorothy Freed Writes.
