“Sup Doc” Podcast Live: Documentary Screening & Discussion | SF
Comedians Paco Romane and George Chen love watching documentaries. They also love interviewing interesting people with strong opinions about their fave docs.
The idea behind this documentary podcast started when Paco sat down to watch all of the PBS 100 best documentaries. He particularly loves the slice-a-life-weird-americana types of docs: Brothers Keeper, MarJoe, Kid Stays In The Picture, Hoop Dreams, Grizzly Man etc. Every morning he’d watch one or two of these documentaries and afterwards he wanted to hear people and filmmakers discuss them. But after searching for a podcast devoted to discussing documentaries and interviewing people that love and make them he came up empty. So he contacted his buddy George Chen a fellow documentary lover and together they started Sup Doc.
Every once in a while they put on live Sup Doc tapings which we’ll feature on Funcheap, but in the meantime you can catch the Sup Doc podcast online or wherever you get your podcast fix.
Sup Doc Podcast presents its debut live show, and it’s free(not wheelchair accessible) at Lost Weekend Video. Bay Area comedians Paco Romane and George Chen invite an SF Mayoral candidate, a comedian and a Mission business owner/musician to discuss Alexandra Pelosi’s HBO documentary “San Francisco 2.0“ about the changing nature of San Francisco and gentrification. This show will be recorded for their podcast.
Their guests are:
- comedian and SF native Kaseem Bentley
- YIMBY SF Mayoral candidate Amy Farah Weiss
- Jawbreaker drummer / co-owner of Lost Weekend Video Adam Pfahler
The panel discussion for the movie will start at 3 pm. If you haven’t seen San Francisco 2.0, come down early at 2 pm.
NOTE: Valencia Street will be closed to car traffic because of Sunday Streets.
