Dolores Park Movie Night: “Adaptation” (2002) | October 2010

The locally-run Dolores Park Movie Night (not to be confused with the much larger city-wide “Film Night in the Park” event) ends its 2010 season of free movies on the second Thursday of each month in Dolores Park with the mind twisting Charlie Kaufman film “Adaptation”.

About “Adaptation”: Frequently cynical screenwriter Charlie Kaufman has just taken on a new assignment. That is, to adapt writer Susan Orlean’s “The Orchid Thief” into a screenplay, all of it based on the life of the eccentric John Laroche, an exotic plant collector based out of Florida. While his easygoing twin brother Donald, is writing scripts with ease, Charlie finds himself on a perpetual struggle that never seems to end.

About Dolores Park Movie Night: Please note that this is NOT part of the larger “Film Night in the Park” series. Dolores Park Movie Night is a much smaller local event put on by residents of the neighborhood around Dolores Park as is intended to be a community-building event for those who live in the immediate neighborhood. The screen size is much smaller than “Film Night in the Park” and  cannot accommodate large crowds

Oh, and pick up your damn trash after the movie! Otherwise the organizers of this event have to pick up the trash after you. Is that any way to treat the people who are bringing this neighborhood a free movie night in the park?
