Marriage and motherhood as a means to navigate the perilous politics associated with female access to power in 17th century India is a central and powerful thread in this opulent multimedia dance production from Farah Yasmeen Shaikh and Noorani Dance.
The performances will be accompanied by live music on the tabla from the composer of the evening’s score; the San Francisco performances will be co-presented by Z Space and Litquake and will feature a talk/reading by acclaimed historian Ruby Lal, author of the biography, Empress: Astonishing Reign of Nur Jahan, with book sales and signing
