East Bay Cosplay Gathering w/ Boba Raid After Party | San Leandro

Hello Zipp Cosplay here all. Here comes volume 2 of ‘Now That’s What I Call Classic’ cosplay gathering. It’s 2019 now. So it will be 2009 and before for this gathering?

Just as first one this is a gathering for you out there who have a cosplay that you may not want to bring it out to conventions or gatherings fearing they may not be appreciated or recognized enough for their age! 2009 wasn’t even that long ago too… or I’m just hella old.

There are still a few entities that have spanned the test of time and are still relatively current! The likes of One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, and Dragon Ball, Evangelion, anything Studio Ghibli, and now Fate/Stay Night can enter this category! While these are definitely classics in their own right, I’d definitely like to see some now unsung hits that may have been popular in their time, and have fallen to the wayside as time went on.

Ever recall Eyeshield 21, Lamune, Shakugan no Shana, Blood+, Darker than Black, Aria, Nanoha, BECK, Air Gear, Sousei no Aquarion, Mai-HIME, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Clannad, Kanon, AIR, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, or Lucky Star? Too many to list from memory that are now classics! I rarely see them nowadays.

We’re also extending this to the likes of visual novels too, so for you OG Type-Moon, Key/Visual Arts, Broccoli Software, KID Software, and ryukishi07 peeps you can get in on this too.

This is going to be exciting. What classic cosplay will you bring out?

While not a dedicated cosplay picnic, I encourage those attending to bring snacks and refreshments to share among others! And just like the cosplay picnic, let’s keep wherever we go cleaner than when we came! There may be an afterparty boba spot to raid, but we’ll play by ear then.

Sunset on this date will be 8:19PM for those seeking that golden hour twilight action. Let’s hope it isn’t too hot this August.

SNACKS: No glass bottles or alcohol!
PROPS: No gun props! Bring your big AF swords!
OUTFITS: No tactical militaria cosplay! Ceremonial garb is okay!
