Event Details

The East Bay Freedom Revival is a sacred invitation to heal, celebrate, and co-create a world rooted in self-love, justice, and collective freedom. This 4-day ritual for individual and collective freedom will feature music and ministry from some of the most talented and brilliant minds in the Bay Area and beyond in honor of Juneteenth, the Summer Solstice, and Pride.

Thursday, 6/19: 7 – 9pm, Freedom Songs: A Tribute to Jacqueline Hairston

Join us on Juneteenth for a community sing-a-long and tribute to Jacqueline “Jacqui” Hairston featuring Rev. Queen Michelle Jordan & Candace Johnson with Amateur Music.

Ms. Hairston is a composer-arranger, pianist, vocal coach and Oakland legend specializing in Negro Spirituals. We’re grateful for the opportunity to celebrate her and her impact on the cultural fabric of Oakland. As Jenn Johns says, “If you grew up in Oakland, Jacqui Hairston taught you music. Or taught whoever taught you.”
