June 1-2, 11am to 5pm both days and June 8-9, 11am to 5pm both days

East Bay Open Studios at the cooperative Gallery 2727 in Berkeley will have Francesca Borgatta, Mary Witkop Coffield and Janet Brugos showing their work on June 1 & 2 and June 8 & 9. Hours will be 11am to 5pm. The gallery is light, airy and well lit with wonderfully tall walls and plenty of floor space. Each artist has their own style and each will have a large number of offerings-be they sculptural installations, oil paintings or mixed media. Artist’s talks and demonstrations will take place on each day.

Francesca Borgatta (www.puppetfigures.com) is an artist working with puppets and video. Francesca will have an installation using elements of her new film “Anthony” including puppets, sets and a video screen playing scenes from the movie. She uses paper mache and recycled materials. Her intent is to provoke a sense of creative potential in the world around us. Francesca will be present on both weekends to demonstrate her methods of puppet construction, and set construction. She will give a talk on the joys of independent film-making at the film premiere on May 31st.

Mary Witkop Coffield (coffieldmw@gmail.com) https://www.instagram.com/marywc0110/ is an oil painter. Primarily abstract, her paintings capture the feeling of immersion in nature. She experiments with a variety of implements to apply paint to canvas using bold coloration. She has participated in numerous art shows and community events.

Janet Brugos janetbrugos.com https://www.instagram.com/brugosjart/ is a mixed media artists who paints with texture. Aside from paint she uses handmade paper, batik fragments and found objects. She explores the world’s troubling climate conditions, does portraits of women of the world and finds beauty in creating art forms of black holes. Janet will be present on the second weekend only, June 8 & 9.

See separate listing for “Anthony” an original film by Francesca Borgatta which will be premiered on May 31 at Gallery 2727 at 8:30pm.
