The Muddy Roses
Americana music is alive and well in the Bay Area, particularly with local bands Emily Bonn & The Vivants and The Muddy Roses teaming up for a show that promises to elicit much hootin’ and hollerin’ at the Hotel Utah Saloon on Thursday, July 21.
Largely inspired by the energy of old-time dance tunes, honky-tonk country and western swing, Emily Bonn & The Vivants play their own brand of American roots music, shining up dusty melodies with modern arrangements. Lead vocalist and songwriter, Emily Bonn, has often been compared to songbird Natalie Merchant and old-time country legend June Carter. http://www.myspace.com/emilybonnmusic
The Muddy Roses play a large helping of classic country with a side of gritty folk and swampy blues. They pay tribute to many American female artists who had something frank to say about their feelings and did so with a wink and a smile. With soaring three-part harmonies, tight instrumentation and sassy humor, The Muddy Roses will get your hands clappin’ and your heart poundin’. http://www.themuddyroses.com
