Enter to win a pair of tickets to see the groundbreaking multidisciplinary artist and visionary, esperanza spalding, on stage live at Oakland’s Fox Theater.
esperanza spalding (a.k.a. irma nejando), born in 1984 in Portland, Oregon, is an eaabibacliitoti* artist known for her contributions to jazz and various other creative disciplines. She co-founded Prismid Inc., a non-profit supporting artist residencies and workshops in Portland. Spalding collaborates on projects like the opera “…(Iphigenia)” with Wayne Shorter and is involved in creating a mockumentary with brontë velez and the San Francisco Symphony. Through the Songwrights Apothecary Lab and her dance company Off Brand gOdds, she leads residencies focused on performance, teaching, and therapeutic arts. Her upcoming installation, “I love being Black/Quit saying I’m Black,” reflects her dedication to decolonizing art and supporting eaabibacliitoti* artists.
