City Lights Bookstore presents an evening of sordid storytelling over cocktails as Jerry Stahl, Pushcart Prize winning author, editor, and screenwriter, reads from Bad Sex on Speed and Happy Mutant Baby Pills.

Stahl’s novels include Bad Sex On Speed, Happy Mutant Baby Pills, I, Fatty, Pain Killers, Perv: A Love Story, and Plainclothes Naked. He is the editor of the anthology The Heroin Chronicles published by Akashic Books in 2012. His memoir, Permanent Midnight, was adapted into a film starring Ben Stiller in 1998.

As a screen writer, Stahl has written for the TV series Alf, Thirtysomething, Moonlighting, Twin Peaks, and Northern Exposure. More recently he has written for the TV show CSI and also a screenplay for the HBO film about Ernest Hemingway and his relationship with Martha Gellhorn, entitled Hemingway and Gellhorn, starring Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman.
