Annual Holiday Mercado | SF

The Mexican Museum kicks-off its Annual Holiday Mercado at La Tienda (the museum store) on Saturday and Sunday, December 9-10th, 2017. The popular event will offer a 10% holiday discount to all guests and a 30% discount to museum members. Free gift wrapping will also be available. You’ll also get to enjoy an extended last look at their exhibit ‘Mexico in San Francisco’ before it’s gone. Additionally, there will be fun art activities for the kids.

In accordance with the significant Mexican holiday of Día de la Virgen de Guadalupe (The Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe), the theme of this year’s Holiday Mercado will be “La Virgen”. This holiday is a popular Catholic feast that celebrates the belief that a man, Juan Diego, encountered the Virgin of Guadalupe, Mexico’s patron saint, in Mexico City in December of 1531.

La Tienda will feature items from Mexico and Central America, as well as from local artisans and vendors including Mexico By Hand, Latina Designs by Pilar, and folk-art collector, Barry Vilkin. Ranging from simply beautiful to outright extravagant, these items make perfect gifts for friends and family.
