SF Ferry Building’s Brand New Chinatown Pop-up Series (March 2021)
Throughout the month of March, the Ferry Building will host a series of weekend pop-ups featuring some of Chinatown’s most beloved small businesses. A portion of proceeds from sales will go toward San Francisco Community Business Resources, a nonprofit organization providing business resources, information, and collaboration to various small businesses and other nonprofits throughout the city.
In celebration of the pop-up series, two gates inside the Ferry Building Marketplace have been decked out with décor provided by Chinatown shops specializing in handmade decorations and lanterns.
Chinatown Weekend Pop Up Series
San Francisco Ferry Building
Saturdays & Sundays throughout March 2021
8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Is it Saturday and Sundays? Or just Saturdays? To be honest, we’re not sure! The press release we received was very clear and mentioned both Saturdays and Sundays, but this Instagram post from the Ferry Building on Instagram only mentions Saturdays. We’ve reached out to to their PR contacts to find out.
Featured merchants include:
- The Chinatown Kite Shop, offering unique and colorful kites
- Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, a Chinatown institution since 1962
- Dragon Papa Candy, a purveyor of specialty candy made from sticky strands of molasses wrapped neatly around a bundle of crushed peanuts
- China Live, where guests can shop a variety of house-made sauces
The Ferry Building was inspired to showcase small businesses from Chinatown to remind visitors of the richness of San Francisco’s neighborhood shops and how important it is to support them. Featured businesses will be at the Ferry Building every weekend in March, with booths set up in front of the decorated gates located at the south end of the marketplace (across from Far West Fungi).
