Comet Viewing Party | SF
The San Francisco Amateur Astronomers (SFAA) will be hosting a comet viewing party in the early morning on Sunday, December 8, 2013.
UPDATE: Please note that the event is now SUNDAY instead of Saturday (updated 12/6/13)
Starting at 5:30 am at the Randall Museum in San Francisco, you’ll get a chance to peer into telescopes and binoculars to view Comet Lovejoy, plus Saturn, Jupiter, and other astronomical highlights.
The recently famous Comet ISON sadly got torched on its trip around the sun and will be a no show. So Comet Lovejoy will be the main attraction this morning. There will be refreshments and warm, indoor space to discuss the comet.
The event is free of charge and will conclude around 7 am.
What if there’s bad weather? If there is bad weather, they cancel. If you can see stars, they are on. And if you cannot see stars when you are outside that morning, they will have canceled. Please check the SFAA website or the SFAA Facebook page for updates.
Sunday is on – Saturday is canceled – The Sunday morning event will take place with the SFAA showing you LoveJoy instead of ISON, but please note that the Saturday event has been canceled.
