Are you looking for a fun, playful community service opportunity teaching people to love to make things – one that comes with two free tickets to Maker Faire, the Greatest Show & Tell on Earth?

Helpful people from across the Bay Area have been invited to help run the Maker Faire Bay Area 2019 hands-on activity areas. Volunteer for a half day and explore Maker Faire for the other half.

San Mateo County Event Center, Saratoga Drive, San Mateo
FREE – Just volunteer for a fun 5-hour “Hands-On” Workshop shift

The Shifts:

  • Friday, May 17: 12:30pm – 5:30pm
  • Saturday, May 18: 9:30am – 2:30pm OR 2:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Sunday, May 19: 9:30am – 2:30pm OR 2:00pm – 7:00pm

Hands-On Activations
In order to help with ANY of our Hands-On Activation positions, you must be able to:

  • Enjoy working one-on-one or in small group instruction.
  • Be patient and supportive of a variety of ages and skill sets.
  • Be able to stay with participants throughout the workshop shift.

Hands-On Activations Positions

  • Cardboard Unicorns – Help whimsy-loving visitors transform corrugated cardboard into a fantastical creature in this simple build.
  • Glow Plushies – Have a soft spot for simple circuits with monstrous personalities? Cuddle up to this project!
  • Learn to Solder – Maker Faire’s most popular hands-on activity is back! Do you know how to solder? Then come help others learn too.
  • Learn to Breadboard – Know how to prototype circuits on a solderless breadboard? Hook visitors up with this powerful tool!
  • Rocket Launch – We love rockets! We need ground crew to build and launch paper projectiles high in the air!
  • Workshops – A variety of in depth, hands on workshops scheduled throughout showtime.

You Give:

  • Arrive on time to work a 5 Hour Shift onsite
