Inferno Theatre presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare in a modern translation by Jeff Whitty at Berkeley’s John Hinkel Park Amphitheatre.  Wear your best hippie threads, pack your picnic basket, bring the whole family, and immerse yourself in this enchanted world of music, movement, and magic.  Let Inferno Theatre lead you on a marvelous romp, filled with Shakespearean verse, compelling physical theater, fantasy, and amazing creatures.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a play about love.  Four young lovers run into the forest pursuing each other, bewitched by a spell cast by the fairy, Puck.  Both young men fall in love with the same girl until Puck reverses the spell and the two couples happily marry.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream opens July 20 and runs Saturdays and Sundays through August 11.  Performances begin at 4pm in John Hinkel Park Amphitheatre, 41 Somerset Place, Berkeley, CA. The amphitheater will open at 3pm for picnicking.  Admission is free.

The amphitheatre consists of a series of stone terraces.  Bring low lawn chairs, pillows/cushions and/or blankets.

The first rows of the amphitheatre will be reserved as a courtesy for those with limited mobility.  Call (510) 825-0449 to reserve one of those spots.  The amphitheatre is wheelchair accessible, there is a small parking lot next to the theater on Somerset with limited accessible parking (few spots – first come, first served).  We STRONGLY ADVISE dropping people off, and then parking on the nearby streets:  Southampton Avenue, Arlington Avenue, and San Diego Road.
