EVENT UPDATE: There are no upcoming events known for this event series - please check the organizer website for any updates.
Sep 30-Oct 1, 10 AM-5 PM
Palo Alto’s beloved Great Glass Pumpkin Patch draws thousands of visitors from all over the world to explore more than 10,000 unique and one-of-a-kind glass pumpkins, gourds, and autumnal keepsakes-in countless arrays of colors and sizes, ranging in height from 1 inch to 2 feet-all available for purchase.
And for the first time, the Great Glass Pumpkin Patch will also include a special display with creations made by some of the participating artists. The theme for this exhibit will commemorate Dia de los Muertos, an annual Mexican celebration and tradition that honors the memory of loved ones who are no longer with us.
In addition to the Dia de los Muertos works of art, guests of the weekend-long event will enjoy glass-blowing demonstrations and “Boom Oaxaca: Conversaciones de Campo a Campo”-the Palo Alto Art Center’s art exhibition organized by Fresno’s Arte Americas, spotlighting newly commissioned works by internationally recognized artists Narsiso Martinez and Tlacolulokos.
Bay Area glass artists that are slated to participate in this year’s Patch include Emily Baumer, Susan Brafford, Kevin Chong, Myles Freedman, Keith Gabor, Ingrid Hanson, Jeanette Hartley, Henrik Jorgensen, Nick Leonoff, Eileen Morrison, Nick Nourot, Janet Peace, John Peters, Deva Priya, Lucie Ramos, Dana Rottler + Peter Stucky, Jonathan Scally, Treg Silkwood, Richard Small, and Jason Stropko.
Proceeds from the sale of glass creations benefit the Bay Area Glass Institute (BAGI), the Palo Alto Art Center, the Palo Alto Art Center Foundation, and participating glass artists. “Since its founding, the Great Glass Pumpkin Patch has raised over $6.25 million that is invested in the local-area community,” notes Palo Alto Art Center Foundation Director of Development Karen Kwan. “The event is a great way to enjoy the arts with the entire family while also shopping local and supporting the arts.”
All Great Glass Pumpkin Patch events are entirely free!
