The festival officially kicks off on Wednesday, October 14, with Niña Memita’s Kitchen Table, an intimate panel conversation about immigrant roots and local community legacy, paired with a traditional Salvadoran menu from local, woman-owned Andrea’s Bakery.

Poetry & Vinyl Record Showcase

The celebration continues on Friday with La Poesía es Como el Pan, Para Todos, a poetry and vinyl listening party hosted by local author Norman Zelaya, featuring confirmed spoken-word artists Karina Gamez and Mauricio Ramirez and DJ Majoo, alongside a community open mic.

Over the weekend, the celebration expands into the neighboring Mission District on Saturday, October 17, with Remembering Los Siete De La Raza, an easy-paced historical bike ride that maps out the neighborhood’s radical activist roots, beginning at In Chan Kaajal Park and ending at the iconic, mural-lined Balmy Alley.

The cultural programming builds toward its grand finale, Salvi Soul Sunday, on October 18 at the intersection of Excelsior and Mission streets. This massive outdoor block party, in partnership with Sunday Streets, elevates the Excelsior corridor as a citywide cultural destination while directly supporting the local economy of Central American immigrant entrepreneurs, artists, and community organizations. Festival-goers can participate in a hands-on printmaking workshop featuring an exclusive Pupusa Face design by acclaimed artist Josué Rojas, grab a custom map to embark on the Excelsior Masa Mile Tour, and experience a mainstage lineup packed with Salvadoran and Afro-Latin rhythms. Confirmed musical and dance performances include Grupo Maiz, Rising Rhythm, Susana y Su Orquesta Adelante, DJ Juan Querido, and legendary Excelsior-raised selector DJ Mind Motion.

Capping off Latino Heritage Month, Five-Day Festival Brings Salvadoran Arts, Culture, and Community Programming to the Excelsior, Supporting Local Businesses and Entrepreneurs

The Salvi Soul Encuentro, a vibrant five-day celebration closing out Latino Heritage Month, runs October 14–18, 2026, and is rooted in the rich traditions of El Salvador and its evolving immigrant diaspora in San Francisco. This one-of-a-kind celebration turns the Excelsior commercial corridor into a hub of storytelling, music, dance, and civil rights activism.
