Today is the SF’s Latest Sunset of the Year at 8:35pm (2023)
EVENT UPDATE: There are no upcoming events known for this event series - please check the organizer website for any updates.
Latest Sunset of 2023 – June 28th
The earliest sunrise for 2023 is June 13 and June 14 (at 5:47am) and the latest sunset of the year is June 28th at 8:35pm in San Francisco. That means you’ll have 14 hours, 45 minutes and 29 seconds of sunlight (assuming Karl the Fog doesn’t get in the way).
But since it’s still pretty light at sunset, you’ll have a lot more time to play with outdoors. “Dusk” (when the sun is 6 degrees below the horizon) doesn’t take place until 9:06pm. This is when the brightest stars can be seen, but it’s still not dark enough to need artificial lighting.
And “Nautical Twilight” (when the sun is 12 degrees below the horizon) isn’t until 9:46pm is when it starts to get really dark and your outdoor fun will likely have to end without lighting.
Last 8pm Sunset of 2023 – August 16th
San Francisco enjoys a late sunset from May 1 – August 16th with 107 straight days of sunsets after 8pm.
