SF’s 2022 Tenderloin “Dia de los Muertos” Celebration (Oct. 24-Nov. 2)

We welcome you to build a community altar honoring the memories of our loved ones with an 8 day celebration in the Tenderloin neighborhood.
Monday, October 24 – Letter Writing
- Write a letter to a passed loved one
- 11 am- 8 pm at the Marketplace, ongoing through October 28
Tuesday, Oct 25 – Calavera Making
- Decorate calaveras (sugar skulls)
- 1-3 pm at La Cocina Marketplace
Wednesday, Oct 26 – Calavera Making
- Decorate calaveras (sugar skulls)
- 5-7 pm at Tenderloin Parks
Thursday, Oct 27 – Flower & Papel Picado Making
- Create paper flowers and papel picado
- 1-3 pm at La Cocina Marketplace
Friday, Oct 28 – Holloween in the Tower & Friday Night Frights at the Marketplace
- Children’s trick-or-treating from 4 pm-6 pm at 100 McAllister St
- A free community event with a costume contest, live music, and candy from 5 pm – 6 pm at La Cocina Marketplace. Spooky specialty cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, and food are available to purchase with a happy hour from 4 pm-6 pm
Monday, Oct 31 – Story Time & Danza Blessing
- Storytime with mothers and elders
- A blessing of the space by Danza
- 5-8 pm at La Cocina Marketplace
Tuesday, Nov 1 – Community Day
- Build the Dia de los Muertos Altar
- 5-8 pm at La Cocina Marketplace
Wednesday, Nov 2 – Dia de los Muertos Celebration
