SF’s “Burning Man At Baker Beach” Old School Celebration (Sept. 3-4)

Many people are unable to attend the regular Burning Man event in Black Rock Desert due to family, work, school or other responsibilities. So, on Labor Day weekend, those Burners are encouraged to go to the original Burning Man site at the north end of Baker Beach and create your own Burning Man experience. While there cannot be any actual burning due to GGNRA Park regulations, people should bring along food, drink, games and materials to create their own art experiences.

Nothing is scheduled or planned, as the day will be a spontaneous experience of creation and ideas thought up on the spot, much like the original Burning Man. People are encouraged to come in colorful costumes and bring paints for body painting and other creative fun. There is also a volleyball court at the north end for your pleasure. Please be aware the Park Police will not allow large amplified equipment on the beach without a proper permit. If you plan to bring such DJ gear, it is your responsibility to obtain a permit. Instead of large, loud sound systems, bring boom boxes or provisions for silent disco (headphones)

There is no overnight camping at Baker, so those who want to be at Baker both days will have to return on Sunday. There are no additional facilities for Labor Day weekend other than the standard Baker Beach parking, rest room and water facilities. It is not a special supervised event. It is your chance to create your own Burning Man experience and for two days create your own special community on the beach.
