San Francisco’s historic Hunters Point Naval Shipyard—with over 300 working studios and home to the largest artist community in the country—opens its doors to the public for a single weekend at the end of April; this is an opportunity to not only meet the artists in their native habitat, but also to talk to them about their work and if inclined make a purchase of a piece that resonates; visitors will find painting, sculpture, furniture, singular (and sometimes historic) home décor items and more to ponder and enjoy

Saturday April 29 to Sunday April 30 from 11am to 6pm; Admission is FREE; a variety of food and refreshments (including from Ujamaa Kitchen located at the Shipyard), art fun for kids (at the Art Rocks Clubhouse in Building 101) and music; more information at shipyardartists.com
