Berkeley’s 7th annual Open Streets event, Sunday Streets Berkeley, kicks off on June 2nd 2019. During Sunday Streets, the roadway is car-free, so people can walk, bike, skate, dance, and play in the open streets.
In 2019, Sunday Streets is going on all summer long throughout Berkeley; the season kicks with a block party on Telegraph Avenue from Dwight to Bancroft on June 2nd, followed by North Shattuck on June 9th, concluding with the finale on July 14th in Downtown Berkeley.

Everyone from businesses and community organizations to musicians and artists use the space creatively, engaging the public and providing spontaneity and discovery.
Sunday Streets (also called “Open Streets”) closes streets to automobile traffic for a day, so that people may use the space for other physical and social activities. The streets become parks as people replace car traffic. People walk, bike, skate and dance and play.
