“Extract Your Own DNA” w/ Bay Area Science Festival

Learn about the process of extracting DNA from cells, how scientists use DNA, and test out your skills to look at your own DNA! An instructor will guide participants through the process of extracting DNA from their cheek cells using common household items.

If you would like to participate, please prepare the following materials ahead of time:

salt
water
3 cups
spoon
dish soap
rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer
food color (optional)
