Fat Tuesday & Mardi Gras Street Parade | Oakland

Celebrate Fat Tuesday in the streets with a free Mardi Gras themed second line parade with the East Bay Brass Band, MJ’s Brass Boppers, Batala, MJ’s Brass Steppers, Blue Bone Express, Dimensions Dance Theater, Batala.

Parade begins at 5:30pm at Awaken Cafe at 1429 Broadway.

Highlights include:

East Bay Brass Band
New Orleans-style brass band that specializes in mash-ups of popular artists from Jelly Roll Morton to AC/DC to Raymond Scott to Paula Abdul to Shostakovich to R.E.M.

MJ’s Brass Boppers
MJ’s Brass Boppers is a New Orleans style singing and swinging Brass-line ready to second-line at the drop of a dime! The Boppers play to the tunes of traditional New Orleans melodies as well as modern songs put to a second-line feel.

Blue Bone Express
Their music is primarily a mix of jazz, blues, and R&B, inspired by the deep legacy of New Orleans music culture. Old rags and stomps are played and sung effortlessly along side blues jumps and more modern rock & TV theme covers, as well as a considerable amount of original compositions.
