Fiestas Fridas 11th year in celebrating Frida Kahlo and her love affair with the Bay.
This year we have a night time Dia de Muertos Fiesta on the 70th Anniversary of her passing, July 13 1954. We invite you to dress as Kahloveras in muerto face with flowers in your hair.
Free Before 8 pm when you mention Funcheap.
SUITCASE ALTARS
Community members are invited to participate by creating a suitcase altar. This can celebrate Frida getting her wings or it can celebrate some release that you have had in your life in which you received release. Altars may be inside a small box all the way up to a suitcase. We will set them out for the evening. Artists are invited to share about their FRIDAltars.
At 9 pm we show the Original FRIDAcumentary filmed by two San Franciscans, Karen and David Crommie. You will learn about Fridas love affair with San Francisco and how the Crommies came to make this film in 1966 . The raw footage from the 1966 documentary was recently incorporated in the Amazon Prime Frida Documentary. Please bring pillows or a pad to sit for movie. Chairs provided for persons with disabilities.
