Event Details

The Junior Center of Art and Science is hosting the closing night reception of the Trash Falcons Trash Museum of Trash (TFTMoT), a limited-run, pop-up museum that has turned Lake Merritt litter into a vivid, walk-through experience of Oakland creativity and environmental action.

This special event is the final opportunity for visitors to experience the full TFTMoT installation before it closes. This is a playful, immersive pop-up museum built from trash collected by the Trash Falcons during their weekly Lake Merritt cleanups. Designed to be photogenic, surprising, and conversation-starting, the experience invites visitors to see urban debris in a completely new way while celebrating community volunteers who show up for Oakland’s beloved Lake Merritt.

With the trash museum in the adjacent space, and the curated “What We Sow” exhibition in the main gallery, the Junior Center invites community members, elected officials, funders, and advocates to experience how creative expression, environmental advocacy, and community stewardship can transform both public spaces and public imagination.
