Little Folkies is an award-winning folk music program for children, ages 0-5. We are excited to announce that enrollment is now open for our Fall Session beginning on September 30th, 2020.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Little Folkies now offers classes exclusively online. Although we miss seeing the kids in our in-person classes, we are so excited for the online Fall 2020 Session! We are happy to welcome back Miranda Mallard and Sam Smetana to the Little Folkies teaching team, as well as Amelia Powell and Little Folkies founder Irena Eide.
On the equinox, in addition to launching our Fall Session, we have released a collection of recorded Little Folkies songs and classes available for rent and purchase. About Little Folkies:
Little Folkies features a huge collection of well-loved original folk songs for kids written by Little Folkies creator Irena Eide, as well as a lovely repertoire of traditional, old-time and bluegrass songs for children. The classes are for little ones ages 0-5 and their caregivers. There is never a dull moment as the 40 minute class flows through a perfect arc starting out with focused and captivating finger play, hand movement, building up to foot-stomping, dancing, and a big instrument jam at the end, completed with deep breaths and a beautiful soothing lullaby to calm down again before heading back into the world with pretty songs in your mind and a smile on your face.
Created by Irena Eide in 2009, Little Folkies aims to nurture a love of music and inspire young families to sing and play together. Each season of the year corresponds to a seasonal collection written by Eide, who has written over 46 popular folk and bluegrass songs for children and has spent over 10 years developing the Little Folkies curriculum.
