Foxtails Brigade’s sound is a clockwork of junkyard beats, warped orchestral sonics, and front-girl Laura Weinbach’s bell-like voice and classical guitar intricacies.  The line up is an A-List ensemble featuring past members of Bright Eyes, Van Dyke Parks, and John Cale. The band has been a staple of the Bay Area music scene for years and has  toured the US, Europe and beyond.
They have released records on Third Culture, Antenna Farm and OIM and are noted for their eye-catching and award-winning music videos several of which were directed by drummer / film maker Dominic Mercurio. Their videos “We Are Not Ourselves”, “Far Away and Long Ago” and “My Favorite Things” feature colorful, detail-oriented art direction by Laura Weinbach and have been compared to the aesthetic styles of Wes Anderson, Jean Pierre Jeunet and Jan Swankmeyer.
Throughout the pandemic the band self-released a series of singles. They are currently un-signed and have plans for more releases and live shows in 2024. Stay tuned.
Big Surprise is a fuzzy alt-folk duo that combines shoegazy electric guitar with high and lonesome harmony singing into a genre they jokingly refer to as “quiet riot.”
Arthur Leon Adams III (Phenomenauts, BLAMMOS) wrote his first song in bed under a blanket with a flashlight when he was 9 years old. His songwriting has improved somewhat since then. Kathryn Evangeline Adams played in rock bands on the Lower East Side and the West Village while the internet was still in diapers, so don’t bother looking it up. They met at a party in Oakland, CA and started writing songs together. They have shared the stage with a diverse array of acts including Nellie McKay, Wheatus, Hutch Harris (The Thermals) and Kepi Ghoulie (Groovie Ghoulies).
