Free 2026 Hayes Vally Holiday Stroll w/ Snowfall + Tap Dancing Trees (SF)

Get ready to kick off the most magical season of the year! The Hayes Valley Merchants Council (HVMC) and the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association (HVNA) are thrilled to invite neighbors, families, and visitors from near and far to the annual Hayes Valley Holiday Stroll on Friday, December 4, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Thanks to a generous grant from Avenue Greenlight, this beloved neighborhood tradition is completely free and packed with festive surprises for all ages.

For one night only, the streets will come alive with enchanting, oversized light sculptures from Astro Botanicals, creating a stunning visual backdrop for an unforgettable evening. Strollers can soak in the holiday vibes with live music from local bands, and extraordinary street performances, including:

• Bands playing at various locations around Hayes Valley: Leah Froyd Insight Chamber Orchestra, Marjolein Shiamety Trio, Eric Glauser, Marco Cassola, Giuseppe Pinto, The Leafs
• The Mistletoe Carolers spreading classic vocal harmony and holiday cheer
• The high-stepping, crowd-favorite Tap Dancing Christmas Trees
• A special photo-op visit from The Abominable Snowman
• Free face painting by Suzy
• Free hands-on ornament craft station thanks to Maker Studio Kidz

“The Hayes Valley Holiday Stroll is a cherished annual tradition.” says HVNA president Joe Maloney. “Come out for holiday cheer, carolers, and drag queens, plus deals and freebies from neighborhood shops. We even make it snow in Hayes Valley for one night a year, complete with a snowman kids and families love. It’s a great, family-friendly way to kick off the holiday season while supporting local business.”

Set against the vibrant backdrop of the Hayes Valley Entertainment Zone, local restaurants and retailers will be opening their doors with holiday specials, warm drinks, and extended shopping hours.
