On the occasion of our current exhibition Creativity Lab: Rediscovery in the Making artist Catherine Lecce-Chong will lead a workshop that will guide participants in rediscovery and mindfulness through their own creative process.
In this workshop, a variety of guided meditations interwoven with painting instructions will be demonstrated. The artist will be providing a variety of handmade tactile drawings for participants to use, one of the helpful blind techniques used in her own paintings. Besides mindful art making, there will be some teaching of eco-friendly painting techniques. This class is created for anyone at any level of meditation and art experience.
About the Teaching Artist: Catherine Lecce-Chong is a bay area artist with visual disabilities. She is also a trained trauma-informed meditation teacher. Cathy does not experience a big difference between meditation practice and art making. Both use intention setting, focused attention, connection to all beings, and compassion. Lecce-Chong has exhibited her tactile paintings in Subject Matters: The Art of Disability Culture at Ruth’s Table Gallery.
