Free Film Buff Night: Modern Classic Films & Local Shorts | SF
The Long And The Short Of It is a new film series that will showcase short films by local filmmakers followed by the early works of today’s top Hollywood directors.
Free, but RSVP is appreciated and donations are welcome.
This event happens monthly at Goforaloop Gallery & Studios in the Mission. Concessions including popcorn, candy, and cocktails will be on sale.

Spielberg's "The Sugarland Express" | Free Film Buff Night: Modern Classic Films & Local Shorts | SFAs Jurassic Park makes its triumphant return to big screens across the country, this time in “Lawyer-Chomping 3D,” we’re reminded of the imprint that Steven Spielberg has made on the modern cinema experience. But where did this Goliath of the silver screen get his start?
This month will feature Spielberg’s first feature film, The Sugarland Express, an action-filled comedy starring a young Goldie Hawn, as well as his 1968 short film Amblin’, a story of two young wanderers who serendipitously join one another on the road.
- 7pm: Concessions & Reception
- 7:30pm: Locally Produced Short Films Directed by Local Filmmakers
- 8:15pm: “The Sugarland Express” and “Amblin.'” Directed by Steven Spielberg
