Friday, November 12, 2010 - 3:00 pm | Cost: FREE

Cal Performances joins with BAM/PFA to present a lecture demonstration on make-up, costume and gesture with Zenshinza company members on Friday, Nov, 12 from 3-4:30 pm.

The audience will experience the transformation of a male onnegata actor into a striking example of feminine beauty in the kabuki tradition, seen live and in simultaneous video projection capturing the process in close-up. Finally, the character comes to life with a short performance-with a surprise ending. Free and open to the public, this demonstration works nicely with the current exhibition at BAM/PFA, Flowers of the Four Seasons: Ten Centuries of Art from the Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture.
