Celebrate love, tolerance, and diversity at the de Young this Valentine’s Day weekend. Join them on Saturday, February 11th, for free general admission, activities and performances as part of their One Love community day.

Enjoy music, art making, tours, and more while exploring the many voices reflected in the permanent collections and discovering various cultures’ expressions of love. Highlights include art speed dating, performances from Velocity Circus and a panel discussion with Bay Area Civil Rights veterans, led by chief curator Julian Cox.

Events & Activities:

  • 12pm, Front Lawn – Flash mob with Wikilove – meet them at Keith Haring’s Three Dancing Figures and share a moment of love
  • 12-2pm, Wilsey Court – Performances by Velocity Circus – look out for colorful characters including ‘Keith Haring Heart’
  • 12-2pm, Permanent Collection Galleries – Live music – listen for the sounds of local musicians throughout the galleries, including Alisa Rose, Howard Wiley, Valerie Troutt and JD Puli
  • 12-5pm, Permanent Collection Galleries – Art activities with their teaching artists – explore the galleries and take part in one of eight different activities for all ages
  • 12-5pm, Wilsey Court – Community Mural with Lauren Bartone – join their former artist-in-residence and help build a mural with names of your loved ones
  • 1-4pm, Permanent Collection Galleries – Gallery tours with Museum Sage – get in touch with your spiritual side; ask a question about your life and receive the answer from an artwork in their collection
  • 1-5pm, Kimball Education Gallery – Apachelypse Now with Douglas Miles – meet their 2017 Global Fellow and February artist-in-residence and his work that simultaneously deconstructs stereotypes and emboldens Native people in the 21st century
  • 2-3pm, Koret Auditorium – An Afternoon with Bay Area Veterans of the Civil Rights Movement – listen to a panel discussion between chief curator Julian Cox and Chude Allen, Ron Bridgeforth and Bruce Hartford, in conjunction with ‘Danny Lyon: Message to the Future’
  • 2-4pm, Wilsey Court – Live music from Richard Howell and Sudden Changes – dance to jazz music by this multi-generational music ensemble
  • 3pm, Wilsey Court – Speed Dating: The Art Edition – get to know five works of art in five minutes with our museum docents and find your soulmate in the galleries
