Free Outdoor Movie Night at The New Parkway | Oakland
The New Parkway hosts occasional free outdoor movie nights where the project the movie, and you bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets.
Show up early to stake out a good spot and purchase popcorn from the New Parkway’s rolling cart (cash only). Outside alcohol is not permitted at this event, but beer and food will be available for purchase through Drake’s.
The New Parkway Theatre is a community-centered cinema and pub located in Oakland’s Uptown district. Sit back and relax in our cozy couches while watching our new releases, cult classics, and fabulous special programming. And don’t forget to check out their free, non-film events like Popcorn Poker Mondays, Open Mic (1st & 3rd Mondays), Bingo and Beer Tuesdays, Drink & Draw Wednesdays, and Team Trivia Thursdays.
As America’s stock of athletic young men is depleted during World War II, a professional all-female baseball league springs up in the Midwest, funded by publicity-hungry candy maker Walter Harvey (Garry Marshall). Competitive sisters Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis) and Kit Keller (Lori Petty) spar with each other, scout Ernie Capadino (Jon Lovitz) and grumpy has-been coach Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks) on their way to fame.
Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell co-star as two of the sisters’ teammates.
