San Francisco Conservatory of Music presents pianist and faculty member Sarah Cahill in a free concert as part of the Faculty Artist Series, with violinist Kate Stenberg and percussionist William Winant.
The program will feature a range of works by Lou Harrison and the composers who were influenced by him, in preparation for the 2017 centennial of Harrison’s birth.
Cahill, Stenberg, and Winant will perform Harrison’s famous Varied Trio for violin, piano, and percussion, called “a marvel of eclecticism” by the San Francisco Classical Voice. Stenberg and Cahill will also perform Henry Cowell’s Sonata for Violin and Piano (1945) and Cahill will perform works for solo piano by composers Ruth Crawford, Terry Riley, Frederic Rzewski, and more.
