Public Works will provide San Francisco residents and business up to 10 free sandbags leading up to and during severe rainstorms.

They are intended for properties prone to flooding. Sandbags can be retrieved Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Public Works’ operations yard, Marin Street/Kansas Street gate. Bring proof of address. Sandbags also are sold at many local hardware and home improvement stores.

2025 November Storm Update (as of 10:10am on 11/13/25)

  • As of 9:30 AM, power outages and storm damage remain limited—the latest information on outages is available through the PG&E outage map, and updated weather forecasts are available at weather.gov/BayArea. San Francisco is currently under a flood advisory until at least 1:00 PM and wind advisory until at least 12:00 PM.
  • Roads in Golden Gate Park including the intersections of MLK and Transverse drives, 25th Avenue and Lincoln, and northbound Sunset Boulevard from Irving Street to MLK Drive are closed due to flooding. Stern Grove, Pine Lake, the San Francisco Botanical Garden, and Japanese Tea Garden are closed and expected to reopen later today.
