This free Pilates mat class is designed as an introduction to the holistic system of exercise known as Pilates. They will explore the foundation principles of breath, concentration, centering, precision, control, and flow and apply them in action to selected exercises from the Pilates repertoire incorporating body weight in various positions and a few common props (foam roller, resistance bands, hand towel.)
This community offering is ideal as a preparation to join a group class because the concepts are equally applicable to both mat and equipment-based Pilates. It is appropriate for curious newbies as well as anyone needing to refresh their practice to make it more effective. This gentle, mind-body class is open to all and students will be guided to modify exercises as needed. Those with significant physical considerations are encouraged to contact the instructor in advance.
