Smart Cycling Part 2 (On Bike) is a outdoor workshop. You will practice all the techniques and situations that you learned in Smart Cycling Part 1 while working in small groups. Certified League Cycling Instructors (LCIs) will help you improve your bicycle handling skills, ride defensively to avoid crashes, and learn crash-avoidance maneuvers in case of emergencies. This class prepares you to bike confidently on any street.
This class is open to anyone age 14 and older. Attendees must bring a well maintained functional bicycle they can ride and a helmet.
We recommend bringing plenty of water and sunscreen. We will stop mid-day during the instructional ride to pick up and eat lunch.
What past attendees have said about the class:
“Amazing! Very helpful instruction and fun and supportive instructors. Well structured!” – Cathy T. (there was rain during her class)
“Gave me more confidence in riding in the street. Experience is the best and sometimes only true teacher.” – Christopher G.
“Made me more confident on the road, taking the lane, and being a defensive cyclist.” – Francisco M.
Prerequisites:
1. Be able to ride a bike in a straight line with one hand off the handlebars for 3+ seconds at a time.
