Bicyclists: the East Bay Bicycle Coalition is looking out for you!

Do you know how to deal with cars? How to hand signal? How to properly wear your helmet (you’d be surprised…)? How to share the road safely?

They’re putting on two FREE Traffic Skills 101 Courses so you can learn how to ride safely on the Bay Area’s roadways.

CLASSROOM WORKSHOP: Tuesday, Nov 9 from  5:30 to 9:00 pm @ San Leandro Main Library.

Register here for 3.5-hour classroom course ]

In this class you will learn the basic rules of the road as they apply to bicyclists, how to dress and equip your bicycle, helmet fitting, using transit, safety information and the main principles of riding predictably, visibly, and communicating with motorists by your actions and signals. No bike needed; Adults 14 and up. Taught by one of our bicycle safety instructors certified by the League of American Bicyclists.

ROAD CLASS: Saturday, Nov 13 from 9:00am to 3:30pm @ Alameda Point Collaborative.

Register here for 6.5-hour on-road course ]

This on-the-road class provides an opportunity to put into practice what was learned in the Day 1 Classroom Workshop, including emergency maneuvers and riding in various traffic conditions, to test your knowledge of vehicular cycling skills. Bicycle required. Prerequisite: Traffic Skills 101 Classroom Workshop

Anyone who completes both of these Traffic Skills Safety Courses will receive a free front and back bike light set, so you can be even safer on the road.
